Since One Love first arrived on New Zealand’s summer festival scene in 2015 it has brought in some of the world’s most legendary names in roots, rock, reggae. It has also cemented itself as one of summer’s must-attend festivals, drawing crowds of more than 20,000 people from around the world. One Love is a celebration of everything that has been intertwined with reggae music culture. From the international adaptations of the music style and the genres that have been infused and inspired by it, to the feel-good vibes of the music and the people, One Love is an experience people want to be part of. Among the many artists to have performed on the One Love stage are Ky-Mani Marley, the son of reggae music pioneer Bob Marley; UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey; Maxi Priest; Third World; Sean Paul and Shaggy. In 2020 organisers of the R18 festival answered a long-time calling for an Australia-based One Love event and introduced One Love Gold Coast. Just like New Zealand’s Tauranga festival, music lovers flock to One Love Gold Coast, with both events continuously selling out. As organisers look to better their offering each year and the demand remains strong, the One Love franchise is here to stay.
